Mini Bio
Stanley A. Smith is an LA native who proudly grew up in Compton, CA, majoring in music at nearby Cal State University Long Beach where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. An award-winning Film & Television Composer (ASCAP Film & Television Music Award) and multi-instrumentalist, Smith composed the weekly underscore and wrote the Theme Songs for the hit TV shows: The Bernie Mac Show/FOX, Let’s Stay Together/BET & Ice Cube’s- Are We There Yet?/TBS. No stranger to the large screen, Stanley has also created original scores for several critically acclaimed and award-winning dramatic Feature Films: The Gospel (#4 box office), The Visit, Constellation, and Catfish in Black Bean Sauce. Other credits include the retro AMC/Mad Men Unilever Brands Commercials, Shorts & Web series, Songs on various Motion Picture Soundtracks, Billboard Charting Songs & Re-mixes, including Co-Producing with David Foster. Stanley and wife, Music Supervisor, Jilien Smith, have collaborated on various projects over the years (Score/Songs/Supervision) with their successful LA-based Music Production Company and Studio, Standard Music. Passionate about the role underscore plays and its importance to storytelling, Stanley takes extreme pride in thoughtfully creating a unique & authentic score for every project. Currently scoring two historic feature-length documentaries: "Betye Saar" and "Make-Up Women-Glamour & Guts". Serving on the Composers Diversity Collective Executive Committee & ASCAP Writers Nominating Committee. Memberships & Affiliation include the Television Academy Music Peer Group, ASCAP, The Recording Academy, Society of Composers & Lyricists, SAG-AFTRA & Sundance Institute (Alumni).
